Thank you for your application to view apartments managed by Slocum Apartments.
Our manager, Mr. Lito Suarez, will contact you soon by email to schedule a viewing of the available apartments you are interested in. We do not rent apartments sight unseen. We can also show the units by FaceTime, etc. We schedule in-person and virtual viewings Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between 12:30 and 5 pm, and we need time to give advance notice to tenants. Masks are required.
The viewing will also be your interview, so please bring your roommate(s), if any. Your roommate(s) would also need to submit a "Contact to View" form on our web site to attend a viewing. The rent listed for the apartment is set for one tenant per bedroom; there is an additional $200 per month rent for each additional tenant. Because of Covid19 restrictions on the number of people allowed in the unit during a showing, we may have to stagger entry into the unit.
You may check our web site: www.slocumapartments.com for an inventory of our apartments. Units opening up on June 1st are posted under “View Availability”.
For leases signed in the spring, the lease period is June 1st, 2021 to May 27th, 2022. This lease would be binding regardless of whether WSU decides to hold in-person classes.
Please be aware that we do not allow pets, and tenants are required to carry renters’ insurance.
If you find something you would like to rent after viewing the apartments, you will need to:
· complete the Application to Lease on our web site or fill out and email us the Application to Lease file sent to you by email before the viewing. The application can be signed later. There is no application fee.
· secure and submit a landlord reference (form found on the web site or sent to you as an email attachment before the viewing). Without a landlord reference, you may be asked to submit a character reference.
· provide a print-out of your rental payment history during your tenancy. We will need an explanation of any late fees and damage charges.
· document that you have the financial resources to pay rent. If you are on financial aid, we would need a copy of your award. If you would be depending on wages to pay your rent, would need to supply a copy of your pay slips totaling a month of wages. If you have an education fund or bank account to pay rent, a copy of the brokerage or bank statement would be needed. If your parents would be paying or helping you pay your rent when needed, they would need to write a letter to us verifying that (email ok).
Also, if you want leave before the end of the 12-month lease (June 1, 2021 – May 27, 2022), you would need to continue rent payments until the end of the lease unless you find an approved sub-tenant. There would be a $300 sublet fee for each tenant leaving payable before the sublease process begins.
If you are approved to lease from Slocum Apartments, you would need to pay the $600 Security Deposit and the May 2022 rent at lease signing. We do not take credit cards. You will be required to pay any current rent owing before moving in on June 1st or later.
